Answering the Call for Those Who Served
The Call Box Society is an outreach initiative established by the Retired Boston Police Officers Association to support retired Boston police officers and members when they need it most.
For decades, these men and women answered the call to serve and protect their communities. The Call Box Society exists to make sure that, in their retirement, they know there are people ready to answer the call for them.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to support, connect, and care for our retired officers and members.
Life can bring unexpected challenges, including illness, hospitalization, loss, isolation, or simply the difficulties that can come with getting older. During these times, a visit, a helping hand, a ride, or a friendly conversation can make an enormous difference.
The Call Box Society provides practical assistance and, just as importantly, companionship and connection. Through the generosity and commitment of our volunteers, we strive to ensure that no member feels forgotten or alone.
What We Do
The Call Box Society responds to the needs of our members in many different ways. Our volunteers visit retired officers who are hospitalized or homebound, organize breakfast and lunch gatherings that bring members together, provide transportation assistance, and offer other forms of support as needs arise.
Some of the most meaningful moments are often the simplest—a familiar face stopping by for a visit, a meal shared with friends, or knowing that someone is willing to lend a hand.
Our work is guided by the understanding that supporting our members is not simply about providing services. It is about showing up, staying connected, and being there when it matters.
A Community That Continues
The bond formed through a career in law enforcement does not end when an officer retires. The Call Box Society helps preserve that sense of camaraderie and connection by creating opportunities for retired officers to remain engaged with one another and with the organization they dedicated their careers to serving.
Whether through a gathering, a personal visit, or assistance during a difficult time, we are committed to maintaining the relationships and traditions that have always been at the heart of the Boston Police community.
Answering the Call
The name Call Box Society reflects a simple but powerful idea: throughout their careers, Boston police officers were there when their communities needed them. Now, it is our turn to be there for them.
We believe those who dedicated their lives to protecting and serving others deserve to be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. Through the efforts of our volunteers, supporters, and fellow members, the Call Box Society works every day to honor that commitment.
They answered the call for us. Now, we answer the call for them.
Get Involved
Together, we can make sure no one who served our community has to face life’s challenges alone.
